Continuing the previous meetings with the poor families, this time we went to Kotal Khairkhana and visited some families, including Rahela.
Rahela, a woman with eight children who came to Kabul from Parwan province, she states that the reason for coming to Kabul is the poverty and misery of her family and the escape from the debtors. for the past five months, her husband was out of work and had to borrow money from the people hoping that one day he will find a job and repay them. He tried everything but was unable to repay the money he borrowed, now the money lenders are visiting his home every day and are threatening him.
Rahila says "it's two weeks that my husband is gone and I don’t know where he is, I am afraid that he might have been killed by one of the money lenders " crying". I worked in people's houses and they paid me around 100 AFN but now that the situation has gone worst, no one is able to hire me. I don’t know how to feed my children. I am lucky that you came to us at such a critical time, thank you for your support”.
